Would you like to be part of
our community orchard?

Thanks to funding from the Pebble Trust we will be able to buy 100 wee fruit trees and we are looking for volunteers who have space to take on one or two trees in their garden – creating an orchard throughout the community!

We will have a mix of apple and plum trees which will arrive as small saplings to be planted out around November. All being well they will produce fruit in 3-4 years’ time. We are going for small tree varieties so that they can be grown in your garden. You just need a sunny spot, enough space for a tree which will grow to around 3 metres, and we will provide all the advice and information necessary to plant your tree and look after it in the long term.

Local volunteer, Des, has his own orchard
just south of Inverness and will be able
to help guide us all through the process!

We are asking people to make a donation of £5 per tree, if they can afford it, which will go towards future events such as hiring an apple press for juicing days, or potentially buying more trees! If you are an organisation which has some growing space, please also get in touch. And if you have space in your garden but would need some help with planting and looking after a tree, just let us know, and we will help.

If you would like to get involved, then please complete the attached survey, say yes to the fruit tree question, and remember to provide your contact details. For more information please email crownconnectsSCIO@gmail.com

Community Wellbeing Survey | Information

Who has created the survey and why?
We, the team at Crown Connects, have created this survey in partnership with Libertie and Incredible Edible Inverness because we would like to collect your feedback, opinions and ideas as to what you would like to see happen in your local community: the Crown and Hill areas of Inverness.  We have come together as our organisations are dedicated to making our community a happier and healthier place to live – whatever your age, background, cultural heritage or socioenonomic status. Therefore, we will be asking a set of questions based on the following three strands:
  • community green space & growing
  • physical environment & transport
  • individual health & wellbeing

What is the purpose of the survey?
The information we would like to gather will help us shape future projects, activities and other community-led initiatives.  As a registered charity, our main purposes and priorities are

  • "The advancement of citizenship or community development"
  • "The advancement of environmental protection or improvement"
  • "The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage"

This survey, and the information we collect, will be used solely to promote these aims and purposes. Gathering feedback from communities is a key mechanism that can help us gain a better understanding of what is important to the community, and to ensure we have adequate funding and resources to implement community development plans.

Participation
Completing the survey is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw your consent, and have your data removed, at any time up until any such time as we may publish the findings from the survey. In returning the survey to us, you are giving implicit consent for your data to be used for the purposes described above. We will anonymise all data by separating email addresses supplied from responses.

Data protection
Crown Connects is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which implements the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018. All personal data (including any data you supply as a participant) must be processed in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. Further information can be accessed here: https://ico.org.uk/

Alternatively, you may write to us at crownconnectsSCIO@gmail.com should you have any further queries regarding how your data has been used in relation to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Accessibility
We have tried to make this survey as accessible as possible; however, should you have difficulties accessing the survey, please do not hesitate to contact us – using the email address given above – to speak to us or to request a copy of the survey in an alternative format. You may also request a copy of this information sheet in a PDF or other accessible format.
